VIC DU MONTE'S IDIOT PRAYER - "Prey For The City" out now on Duna Records!

Created by Klaus Kleinowski |

Originally from the California Desert, songwriter Chris Cockrell a.k.a. "Vic du Monte" began his musical journey as bass player and co-founder of Kyuss, along with Brant Bjork (Brant Bjork and the Bros/FuManchu), Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age/Desert Sessions), and John Garcia (Unida/Hermano).

While in Chicago, Cockrell began to take stock of his new more refined and classic musical direction by developing his new persona and anointing himself Vic du Monte.  Musically refreshed and energized by the fast-paced urban feel of Chicago, Cockrell returned to Los Angeles to join up with old musical allies Jeremy Jiannoni (Drums), Matt Kistler (Guitar/Slide/Vocal), David Mallchok (Bass), and James Childs (Keyboard/Vocals) to create what is today Vic Du Monte's Idiot Prayer. The quintet's new record "Prey for the City" is set to be released in February 2005, on Duna Records.

It's a subtle, yet in your face representation of Vic's eclectic tastes and oddities. His Idiot Prayer strips rock and roll down to its bare essentials and cranks out gritty lo-fi tunes laden with distortion, vitality, and wry observation.  This heart-pounding record is carefully honed to create the best bandito street rock available without a prescription.

VIC DU MONTE'S IDIOT PRAYER will be touring Europe alongside BRANT BJORK AND THE BROS. and will be joined on drums by Alfredo Hernandez of KYUSS, QOTSA, YAWNING MAN, CHÉ fame! Needless to say this is a tour NOT TO BE MISSED! Check out the tour-dates here!
