Space Rock Tour Gears Up For First-Ever U.S. Shows

Space rock pioneers Nektar, Brainticket and Huw Lloyd Langton of Hawkwind are gearing up for a ground-breaking US tour which hits thirteen cities beginning in New York City on August 17 and endind in Los Angeles at the Key Club on September 3.

The three bands form the base of the space rock/Kraut rock movement that launched onto the music scene of the late Sixties. “Keep believing in what you are doing,“ Roye Albrighton told Greek website Skylight on the modus operandi behind the bands desire to hit the road again more than 40 years after each of the band’s inceptions.

Formed in Hamburg in 1969 by Englishman Roye Albrighton, Nektar’s 1974 release 'Remember the Future' launched the band into the American Top 20. In 1974 they hit the Billboard singles charts with 'Astral Man'.

Brainticket formed in Europe in 1968 with members of Belgian, Swiss, and German descent. Joel Vandroogenbroeck heads up the outfit, who have never toured the United States!

Huw Lloyd Langton was a forming member of Hawkwind, and session guitarist for the Meads of Asphodel.

“Nektar will be performing a cross section of most of our albums up until and including the last one. I know that we can’t please everyone with the setlists but with the time constraints, we will try to cover as much ground as possible,” Albrighton told the Music Street Journal.
