RIP KC (Spingüolf) CD

Apr/12/2008

Some album-titles are so mysterious, that they are on my mind for weeks while I try to think about their meaning. But probably I will never know what a 'Spingüolf'is, and sometimes it's good that some names will keep their secrets...

REVELATION (Salvation's Answer) CD

Mar/03/2008

I still love this album as much as I did in 1990 and I suppose that it doesn't need a detailed introduction, especially not for die-hard Doom Metal fans. It has been released in 1990 on Rise Above Records and REVELATION have cultivated one of the most influential sounds in Doom Metal, together with bands like Saint Vitus, Pagan Altar, The Obsessed, Pentagram, Trouble, Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus...

ROTOR (3) LP/CD

Mar/02/2008

Berlin's ROTOR been developing over the past years and it seems as if they've kinda reached their destination with the new album, that has been again released by Elektrohasch in 2007. Beauty and pain come hand in hand...

ROANOKE (Stormbringer) CD-R

Nov/16/2005

Since more than a decade people discuss about the term 'Doom'. Some people's definition is more based on the sound of traditional bands like Saint Vitus, Pentagram, or Witchfinder General f...

ROTOR (2) CD

Nov/11/2005

I must confess, that I didn't take much notice from the German three-piece ROTOR in the past, but with the actual album, released by Elektrohasch in 2005 and simply entitled "2" this state will definitely change. Although the album kicks off with a typical "stoner" rock song, which doesn't represent the quality of this album, the remaining seven cuts are showing the whole powerful abilities of the band...

RUE (s/t) CD

Oct/26/2005

This disc has been out a while now, but it's too powerful to let it pass by unnoticed. It's the first full-length from RUE, a group considering members of Fistula and Sofa King Killer, and so one can definitely expect high-quality sludge performed in its most convincing way...

R.E.T. (The Dark At The End Of The Tunnel) CD

Oct/20/2005

Have I ever mention, that I don't like the mix of cheesy keyboard sounds together with classic metal riffs? If not, R. E...

RED GIANT (Devil Child Blues) CD

Feb/06/2005

It's been a long time ago since we heard anything new from Cleveland's RED GIANT. "Ultra Magnetic" has been their latest life sign, and it was an album packed with long jam-like songs...

REVEREND BIZARRE (Harbringer Of Metal) CD

Oct/29/2004

The self-called servers of traditional Doom Metal are back! Currently, this Finnish trio are everybody's darling in the Doom Metal underground press, and they get praises everywhere as if they are the biggest doomed invention since the early days of Saint Vitus. Well, this will always be a big secret for me, and no matter how often I listen to "Harbringer Of Metal" I can't understand this enthusiasm about REVEREND BIZARRE...

RWAKE (If You Walk Before You Crawl You Crawl Before You Die) CD

Oct/29/2004

Been waiting a long time for the second RWAKE album to be released, and I'm glad to report that they are continuing to evolve as a band quite nicely. This time, the group had found a new home in At A Loss Recordings and this time the overall production is powerful and more effective...
