Originally released in 2005 as a limited 12" on Withered Hand Records, this is an enhanced CD re-release from the same label. Even if you own a copy of the 12" it could be interesting to buy this CD because it contains seven exclusive live tracks in addition to the original studio tracks and a 'fancy silver cover', that looks very tasteful...
This is the self-released debut album from a young Canadian band, and it has definitely some very good moments, especially when BROKEN OHMS try to find their own musical identity that lie somewhere between early Soundgarden and early QotSA. Well, that maybe that doesn't sound very exciting, but BROKEN OHMS have a keen sense for melodies that carve their way into my ear and stuck there for more than two hours...
Here we have the second album form Portland's aggro-wreckers BLACK ELK that has been released by Crucial Blast in 2008. I never had the chance to listen to their debut album, but 'Always A Six, Never A Nine' confronts the listener with a load of heavy dissonant riffage, delivered with the subtlety of a plane crash...
