AMORPHIS (Chapters) CD & DVD

Jul/08/2004

Ten years ago AMORPHIS signed with Relapse Records, but now the band got a major-deal with Virgin Records, where they have released their new album "Far From The Sun", but that's not the theme of this review. As the title says, "Chapters" gives the listener an overview about the Relapse years, from the first album "The Karelian Isthmus" until the last one "Am Universum"...

ALCHEMIST (Austral Alien) CD

Jul/08/2004

This Australian band isn't the typical Relapse Records artist, though they explore the land behind the boundaries of traditional Metal, too, but they don't have any blast-beats or ultra-deep death growls. This is the fifth album, and due to the lack of information about former releases, I can't say anything about any differences or changes...

ANTONIUS REX (Praeternatural) LP/CD

The history of AR goes back to the year 1969, when this project was founded under the name Jacula from Antonio Bartoccetti. After the mysterious death ofa band member , mainman A...

AKRON (Il Tempio Di Ferro) LP/CD

Jul/08/2004

I really had to grin, when I take a look into the booklet of the new AKRON, because the musicians are dressed like knights with swords and helmets etc. But AKRON are no Black or True Metal Band, and the reason for their funny outfit is the concept, Il Tempio Di Ferro" is based on - the crusades and templars...

ANTROBUS / THE FLYING HAT BAND (Buried Together) Split CD

Jul/07/2004

ANTROBUS were formed in early '71 when Britain's heavy progressive rock underground scene was in full flight. The band exsisted for only one year, and they had no real rehearsel place and that's hard to believe while listening to the nine tracks that were never offical released...

AMULET was formed in Evansville, Indiana during the autumn of 1978. At first they performed cover material from Robin Trower, Pat Travers, UFO, Hendrix, ZZ Top, Van Halen and other artists...

AGENTS OF OBLIVION (s/t) CD

Jul/07/2004

Although this album is from 2000 I like to present this dark and melancholic album from this New Orleans based band. Fronted by the formerly Acid Bath singer Dax, who's a real underrated vocalist his new band is in some moments not far away from Acid Bath, but instead of all the grind and sludgy elements the Agents are closer to Joy Division or Bauhaus and they have a piano player in the line-up...

THE ATOMIC BITCHWAX (Spit Blood) LP/CD

Jul/07/2004

I'm a great fan of the other two Bitchwax records, but this one is their finest for me. Why? 'Cause this their heaviest and darkest album or something like that...

THE ATOMIC BITCHWAX (II) LP/CD

Jul/07/2004

TEE PEE RECORDS proves once again its good taste when it comes to groovin' 70's influenced Rock. After releasing the debut in 1999 here we have the new album from this New Jersey based band and I must say that it's stronger than the debut...
