"Heavy" kicks off like a typical fuzz-laden riff-rock album with the opening track "The Sleeper", that's close to Nebula or Fu Manchu and at first I expected one of this typical faceless heavy bands, playing in the vein of the before mentioned bands without adding anything new to it. The second up-tempo rocker "Revelations" underlines this impression and is nothing real special, too...
What can I write about this timeless masterpiece, that hasn't been written before? This is a re-release on TOLOTTA REC of the first OBSESSED album, now remastered from MD sound-wizard Chris Kozlowski. As a bonus you can hear ten live songs from February 28th, 1984 recorded in Maryland in a rough sound quality, but that doesn't matter, because it's a legendary moment in doom history, where the band performs some never before released tracks...
Out of the streets of Detroit, MI comes this metallic-shining heavy psych monster, named NOVADRIVER and these four guys are playing a very tasteful mixture out of different ingredients like Blue Cheer, Stooges, MC5, Hawkwind and a bit Sabbath. But enough name-dropping ! I never heard anything of them before but this debut is an excellent surprise...
It's not easy to describe the second album of this obscure French band, again released by Black Widow Records. In some songs they are sounding like the re-animated Witchfinder General ("Over The Mountain") or Count Raven ("Violet Rainbow"), but there are enough songs, which are quite different from the heavy doom songs...

The new album contains eleven tracks and in opposite to the forerunner, "Simsalabim" is much straighter and harder. No big experiments, this is heavy straight forward Rock'n'Roll Metal without any compromises...

After the the "Rocketcrash" 10" EP here we have the album debut from this fine Swedish band. Maybe most people will know them, because of the fact that their singer is Spice, the bassist and singer of SPIRITUAL BEGGARS...
MOURNFUL CONGREGATION (Tears From A Grieving Heart) LP
Jul/16/2004
Bleakness prevails! That's the conclusion you come up with, after listening to these "five hymns of mystery and despair" released as the third part of PAINIAC RECORDS' "Suicidal Doom Series". Recorded between 1997 and 1998, Australian MOURNFUL CONGREGATION's lamenting dirges are nearly drowning in a tub of melancholy and hopelessness...
This is MOOD's first album on CD for the first time ever! Originally it was released back in 1996 as a tape album, but now you can get it with three bonus tracks. "Vol...
